Ball Tray Assemblies

Ball Tray Assemblies are the most common screen deblinding device and the most flexible. Used in a variety of deblinding applications, balls are sandwiched between the classifying mesh screen and a supporting screen. Suspended usually around two inches below the classifying mesh, the balls bounce between the two layers and are launched upwards by the vertical motion of the separator machine, impacting the classifying mesh with a sizeable force, and clearing the near-size particles from the screen openings.

Standard Construction

  • Bottom Supporting Screen – 4 Market Grade x 0.047” T-304 Stainless Steel
  • Screen Cleaning Devices – Standard 1-3/8” White EPDM, other compounds available upon request.
  • Classification Screen – T-316 Stainless Steel mesh for separating the product.
  • Sealing of Classification Screen – FDA / CFIA Approved Epoxy grade

Common Uses:

Deblinding ball Tray Assemblies are especially useful when using a coarser mesh due to the high impact energy and the bouncing/reverberating action. Typically, they are used when the mesh is greater than a 40 Market Grade mesh count. Ball Tray Assemblies are not recommended for fine screen meshes because mesh damage can occur. They are primarily used in dry applications.

Advantages:

  • Very effective for material separation where the material tends to agglomerate or form balls.
  • Works well for material separation using temperature-sensitive materials.
  • Can be used when working with exceptionally hard irregularly shaped materials.
  • Easy to take apart and clean.
  • The classifying mesh screen can be switched out easily allowing for different classification screens to be used without having to replace the entire unit.
